About the Building
Designed by Stanford White of McKim, Mead & White and constructed between 1900 and 1902, the Mackay Estate Gate Lodge was the grand entrance to Clarence Mackay's Harbor Hill estate, one of the most expansive Gold Coast properties ever built on Long Island. The main house was demolished in 1947. The Gate Lodge stands today as the most prominent surviving structure of that estate, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1991 and stewarded by the Roslyn Landmark Society.
