In the next step in restoring the historic Mackay Estate Gate Lodge, plywood has been placed over the window and door opening for safety and to protect the building from Winter storms. The plywood and labor were donated by Island Contracting, owned by John Santos, co-president of the Roslyn Landmark Society.
The Art Club of the Roslyn High School is currently working on artwork to be placed on the plywood in the Spring. A special ceremony uncovering the artwork will be announced on RoslynLandmarks.org.
Thanks to a grant from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation, matched by funds held by the Village of East Hills, replica historic windows and doors will be ordered this month for installation later this year.
The Art Club of the Roslyn High School is creating art for the temporary Mackay Estate Gate Lodge windows.
