As part of the 250th anniversary of America, we invite you to JOIN US as host historian and author Dr. Joanne Grasso for a compelling talk on her book, The American Revolution on Long Island. Dr. Grasso will explore what life was like on Long Island during the Revolutionary War, following George Washington’s 1776 defeat at the Battle of Long Island and the seven years of British occupation that followed. From loyalty oaths and the quartering of soldiers in private homes to prison ships in Wallabout Bay and the covert operations of Washington’s Culper Spy Ring, this program will shed light on the intense and often divided world of Patriots and Loyalists — and the long road to relief in 1783.
