Hats off to the Town of North Hempstead Highway Department for their outstanding work in cleaning the historic Townsend Cemetery located in East Hills. The right-of-way off Northern Boulevard and the burying ground were cleared on debris, fallen trees and poison ivy.
Thanks also to Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Councilperson Peter Zuckerman for their efforts over the last seven years in preserving this burying ground for 33 of the earliest English Quaker settlers to our community dating back to 1790.
