Board & Batten cottage style with added Queen Anne details. William Bunker Tubby designed the west wing and the exterior chimney and redesigned the front entrance in 1910. Originally built for John D. and Caroline Hicks. Later, the residence was owned by the Tubby family until the 1940s.

From the 1980s, the building served as various restaurants: Old Tubby House Restaurant, Truman's Restaurant, Excalibur Restaurant, Minka Japanese Restaurant and 1401 Taverna Restaurant.
