Rock and Roll House
12 Highland Avenue, Roslyn Heights
Adapted from the 2006 House Tour Guide.
This house is often referred to as the Rock and Roll House. Reputedly, former owner and entertainment lawyer, Peter Parcher and his wife, Joyce, entertained such celebrities as Paul McCartney, Elton John and Mick Jagger. In a 1979 New York Magazine list of "Big Dealmakers in the music scene", Peter Parcher was described as the "rock n roll litigator. If Paul Simon has to go to court, he'll take Parcher with him."
Regardless of the illustrious guests the house may have sheltered, it is a wonderful example of a late Victorian (ca. 1900) "gable front and wing" house with an inviting side porch. Inside, one finds coffered ceilings and delicate Federal-style mantles, elements common to the Colonial Revival architectural style.
