Adapted from correspondence from Carol Clarke, Archivist, Bryant Library Local History Collection, March 2021.
Proprietor Emil Rinas came to Roslyn before 1916 and showed his first movies in a large tent on Bryant Avenue near Bryant Hall, the original Bryant Library.
Rinas replaced his tent in 1915 by building the Tower Theater, located immediately west of the Hicks-Zeifman House, 1326 Old Northern Boulevard. This theater was destroyed by a fire on March 18, 1931.
Construction of the current Roslyn Theater began in May 1933.
As of May 13, 2022, the Roslyn Theater is closed reflecting the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
