Roslyn Claremont Hotel 1221 ONB jeh

The Roslyn, a luxurious, 77-room hotel in the Village of Roslyn, was built in 1991. Originally known as the Roslyn Claremont Hotel, the three-story hotel was purchased in 2017 by a father-and-son investor duo from Upper Brookville, and it has been part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton since 2020.

The hotel was built by Glen Cove developer A. Alexander Lari, who described the hotel as “an English–French country hotel” in a 1991 Newsday article. Lari, who had originally intended to construct an office building on the property, opted to instead build the French chateau-style hotel after determining that the latter use would be more profitable.

A major feature of the hotel at the time of its opening was the 40-seat restaurant which, due to the Village of Roslyn’s moratorium at the time on new restaurants, exclusively served hotel guests. Fabrics for the rooms were imported, made by London-based Colefax & Fowler. The common spaces were decorated by British-born interior designer Mary Gilliat in the 18th century English style, while Lee Bogart – a Locust Valley-based designer – decorated the hotel’s guest rooms, per Newsday.

Today, The Roslyn is also the current home of My Father’s Place – the legendary entertainment venue which put Roslyn on the pop culture map and gave the community a pivotal role in music history – as well as the Roslyn’s Cellar social club in a grand ballroom, plus a restaurant, boutique, fitness center, room service, and other world-class hotel amenities. It is the only hotel located within Roslyn Village.
