The Grit Ninja, a leading provider of obstacle-course based fitness classes and programming, opened a brand new 7,000 square foot facility at The Waterfront at Roslyn building located at 55 Lumber Road in Roslyn on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

This is the fourth location for this fast-growing company and its first on Long Island. In its flagship kids ninja classes, the Grit Ninja combines obstacle-course based fitness with a high-energy, fun environment.

Visitors to the Grit Ninja will see a gym full of obstacles inspired by those seen on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior, including five warped walls. Every week the staff builds a fresh gym layout and is continually developing new obstacles that will challenge ninjas.

Their programs include afterschool ninja classes, open gyms, birthday parties, camps, team-building events and more. They offer sessions for ninjas of all ages and levels – from the very beginner (age 3+) through the competitive elite.

Amanda S. described her seven-year-old Max’s experience: “We have been training at the Grit Ninja since 2019 and this place has not only made my son stronger, but also really improved his self-confidence. The coaches are wonderful – they are fun, supportive, and really push my son to go beyond his comfort zone. Ninja has become my son’s favorite sport!”

The Grit Ninja was founded in 2019 by Allison and Eric Meltzer and their coaching team today includes seven individuals who competed on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior. They said: “We are so excited to train the next generation of ninjas on Long Island! In addition to the physical benefits of building strength, balance, and agility, our ninjas are also encouraged to problem-solve, strategize, learn from their mistakes, and celebrate their successes. This process is an incredible way to build self-confidence and develop grit (thus the name). Our hope is that the lessons learned in the gym will stay with ninjas over the course of their lives.”
