Waterfront at Roslyn (Coinmach Laundry Building)
55 Lumber Road, Roslyn
This 46,000 square foot building is an excellent example of commercial adaptive reuse. It was originally built in 1984 as the factory and offices of Coinmach Laundry Corporation, which became the leading supplier of coin-operated laundry equipment in the United States.
By 2000, Coinmach had outgrown the space and sold the building to Ian Zwerdling and his business associates. Within two years, the building was subdivided and became the offices and warehouses for ten commercial business.
Today, the Waterfront at Roslyn is the home of 34 diverse businesses including: Haute DURVO (an event space), Ballroom Boutique Dance (teaching social and competitive dancing), Winloot.com (an Internet sweepstakes company), East Coast Fencing Club, LiLuxe (designers) and Color Theory (after school art classes).
Waterfront at Roslyn is currently owned by Howard Kroplick and Ian Zwerdling.
