On July 25, 2023, the Roslyn Landmark Society, local officials and supporters celebrated the conclusion of Phase 1 of the restoration of the Roslyn Grist Mill. The mill was lowered onto its new foundation, supported by its restored historic timber frame.
Here are highlights from the presentation by Alexandra Wolfe, Executive Director of Preservation Long Island.
"I also have a personal relationship to the Roslyn Grist Mill because as a young intern going to preservation school in 2000, I did a survey of County owned, historic properties. Made a little report and I remember going to this building... and it said, "to be restored." And I think the sign was dated 1985... and here we are 23 years later and it's actually come to fruition. So, applause to everyone for making this happen."
