Before cars shaped our streets, the Roslyn Trolley carried daily life through the village.
Beginning in 1902, electric trolleys traveled along roads we still recognize today, connecting residents to shops, schools, the harbor & the Long Island Rail Road. Running through Roslyn until 1924, the trolley lines followed routes that helped define the village’s growth, bringing people together long before modern traffic patterns existed.
In these historic images, we see tracks cutting through familiar intersections, trolley cars arriving at the station & everyday moments unfolding along dirt roads that later became paved streets. In the video, those same routes are traced over today’s map of Roslyn, offering a rare look at how transportation shaped the community today.
