The Roslyn Landmark Society is pleased to announce the addition of Kelly Spier to its Board of Trustees. Spier was unanimously elected to the Board during the April 2025 board meeting.
Kelly Spier said, "I am honored to be elected as a Trustee to the Roslyn Landmark Society. I am grateful to be part of a community where historical preservation, education and appreciation is of importance.”
Spier and her husband, cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Laurence Spier, have lived in Roslyn since 2006. They have five daughters and have long been involved with local community activities. Spier places great value on community service and has volunteered for the Village of East Hills, local school boards, and her local temple. She currently serves as Roslyn High School Parent Faculty Association (PFA) President as well as on the Executive Board of the Roslyn Bulldog Booster Association. She is also a Roslyn Middle School Bulldog Booster Representative.
“We are thrilled with the appointment of Kelly Spier as trustee of the Roslyn Landmark Society. This is one of the reasons I love this wonderful organization; it’s dedication to bringing together community members in so many meaningful ways,” said Board trustee Rosanna Wolff. “I know Kelly will add so much to the momentum we’re building with more events, collaborations, student involvement, and community engagement."
One of Spier’s favorite hobbies is researching Roslyn history. The recent restoration of her home, which is one of earliest residences built in Roslyn Estates in 1893, is a true testament to her appreciation of local history and passion for the preservation of historic structures. The Spiers diligently strove to maintain the building’s original architectural structure and historic facade during the process, helping to preserving Roslyn’s cultural heritage and an important tangible link that provides valuable insight into the evolution of architectural styles in this area.
“We are very excited that Kelly has agreed to become a trustee for our organization,” said Howard Kroplick, co-president of the Roslyn Landmark Society. “Her passion for the history of our community and her experiences with the Roslyn School District and the restoration of her beautiful historic Roslyn Estates home will bring great value to the Roslyn Landmark Society.”
