The Village of Roslyn and Town of North Hempstead began repaving of Paper Mill Road on Tuesday and continued on Thursday.
With the encouragement of the Roslyn Landmark Society, the joint effort by the Town and Village was reached in September 2020 as described below.
September 19, 2020:
Responding to multiple requests from the Roslyn Landmark Society and residents, the Town of North Hempstead and the Village of Roslyn have reached an agreement concerning repaving Paper Mill Road. Both the town and village disputed responsibility for maintenance of the road which divides the Town's Gerry Park and is listed on the Village's tax map. This historic road, the site of the Roslyn Paper Mill and its replica, is the only outlet for visitors to the Bryant Library
Under the joint agreement, repaving costs will be shared by the village and town. Potholes have already been filled and a complete repaving is scheduled for the spring after completion of the first phase of renovations to Gerry Park.
