This beautiful Town of North Hempstead park is located within the boundaries of Main Street, East Broadway, Paper Mill Road and Old Northern Boulevard in the heart of the Village of Roslyn. In June 2021, Newsday reported "Gerry Pond Park is arguably the Island's most picturesque (and romantic) picnic rendezvous."
Park History
The Henry Bergh Plaque was located on the Hicks Memorial Centre on Paper Mill Road. Plans are underway by the Town of North Hempstead to restore the memorial and bridge.
In October 2013, the Mackay Horse Statue was restored and installed in Gerry Pond Park.
In2018, Nassau County and the Town of North Hempstead constructed a plaza surrounding the statue with a historical marker.
During 2020, the Town of North Hempstead restored major sections of the park and its three lakes.

Bob, thanks for the comment. All the Roslyn Estates profiles now have the 1914 map included as an asset. Howard
Howard, what a great assembling of historical materials. The Roslyn Estates map of 1907 (in the map of 1914) is of particular interest to me as the Village Historian. I have never seen the color version of the map (only a copy in black and white) and the Zoom feature makes it possible to read the details now. I will need to study it further, but it seems the houses in red are those contracted by Dean Alvord (the earliest of those you've help date as 1907-08) but those in black seem to have existed at some time before he developed RE. If so, that is revolutionary in my understanding. A suggestion: this map should be linked also to the section in the site on RE. Thank you so much for all your research and presentation.
