On Tuesday, November 25, the Roslyn Landmark Society welcomed Gina Wouters, Executive Director of Planting Fields, along with members of her staff, for a special tour of the historic Roslyn Grist Mill. Led by Roslyn Landmark Society Co-President Howard Kroplick and Project Director Jennifer Lister, the group of ten explored the Mill’s interior, observed recent restoration progress, and learned about the building’s architectural history and preservation goals.
The visit offered an opportunity to share updates on key milestones, including structural restoration work and the ongoing advancement of Phase 2 restoration.
Following the tour, Gina shared her thoughts with Howard, writing:
“The milestones your team has hit are really impressive! Stepping inside the Grist Mill, seeing the setting, smelling the new cedar, and feeling the scale of the interior left a powerful impression.”
Planting Fields also highlighted the visit on their Instagram account, a gesture that reflects the shared goals of both organizations in historic preservation, education, and community stewardship.
We are grateful to Ms. Wouters and the Planting Fields team for taking the time to learn more about the Roslyn Grist Mill and for their support and enthusiasm. Partnerships like these strengthen our mission and help build broader awareness for the important work taking place in Roslyn.
We look forward to welcoming them back as the project continues to move toward completion.
