On November 13, 2024, Preservation Long Island and the Roslyn Landmark Society partnered to present exclusive, behind-the-scenes virtual access to the Roslyn Grist Mill.
During the first half of the event, Howard Kroplick, co-president of the Roslyn Landmark Society, led viewers on a virtual tour of this important local historic site and shared the intricate steps involved in restoring the grist mill. In addition to highlighting the building's historical significance and technical specifications, he outlined the four phases of the restoration process, discussed funding sources behind the project, and spoke about the strategic vision for the mill's future once the restoration work is complete.
This was followed by a live Q & A discussion session with Kroplick and Jennifer Lister, Roslyn Landmark Society's Project Director, moderated by Tara Cubie, Preservation Director for Preservation Long Island. Together, Howard and Jennifer share insights into the journey of preserving the historic Roslyn Grist Mill, touching on topics such as fundraising campaigns, community involvement, and technical hurdles faced during the project.
