The second phase of the Roslyn Grist Mill restoration began this week with workers removing the concrete south wall and restoring the 1700's beam and columns (Bent 15) which faces Old Northern Boulevard.
The south wall as seen on Monday prior to its removal.
After the wall was taken down, the damaged 1700s beam was removed.,
With the south wall removed, a 1700s beam can now be seen from Old Northern Boulevard. A worker in 1917 placed his initials on the beam. If you visit the site, can you find it?

Temporary bracing has been added on the east and west walls to further secure the building until the top sill plates are installed.
Update September 16, 2023: With the building now supported by its restored timber frame, the interior bracing installed by Nassau County in the 1990s is being removed.
The September 2023 Appreciation Banner is now on display. Thank you for your support!
