The Roslyn Landmark Society has been awarded a $1,500 Gardiner Youth Scholars award from the Robert D.L. Gardiner Foundation. The Gardiner Youth Scholars award is available to all Long Island historical societies. The Gardiner Youth Scholars’ candidates are selected at the discretion of the historical society which oversees the scholars’ hours and activities. The candidate must complete 100 hours of service after being nominated and be between the ages of 15 to 22.
For 2023, the Roslyn Landmark Society has proudly nominated Isabella Santos, a local Roslyn High School student. Isabella has volunteered for the Roslyn Landmark Society for the past two years and has assisted with filing, archiving, mailings, and digitizing for the organization.
“I have lived in Roslyn for 15 years and appreciate the town for the history it has to offer. Volunteering at The Roslyn Landmark Society has educated me on what is needed to preserve a town such as Roslyn and encouraged me to continue to learn ways to promote interest in the social heritage of the town,” said Isabella.
The Roslyn Landmark Society thanks the Robert D.L. Gardiner Foundation for this wonderful youth scholars’ program.
