The George Brown House, located at 70 East Broadway, Roslyn, was recently sold for $2.08 million. It is believed to be a record price for a property located in the historic district of the Village of Roslyn.
As profiled on Roslynlandmarks.org, this merchant's house was built in 1926 and retains much of its original appearance. It belonged to George Browne who owned a bakery across the street.
The residence is a 2 1/2-story gable roofed dwelling. It has a modern 3-bay, hip-roofed, screened porch carried on a simple Tuscan side enclosed chimney.
A 3-story addition was built in 2016.
