The Roslyn Landmark Society extends a warm welcome to Ilios Froyo, the newest addition to Old Northern Boulevard, which recently opened at 1355 Old Northern Blvd. in the former Yolo Yogurt space. The building is one of three adjacent commercial buildings constructed for Frederick C. Hicks between 1895 and 1905, a congressman, president of Roslyn Savings Bank, and the man who cast the deciding vote in favor of the 19th Amendment.
Founded by husband and wife team Andrew and Sophia Quintero, Ilios takes its cues from Sophia's upbringing in Cyprus, where frozen yogurt was an everyday staple. The menu reflects that heritage, taking the Greek word for "Sun" as its name. Ilios will also be participating in The Taste of Roslyn on September 24th at Haute Durvo. Ilios is currently open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m, and the opening was recently featured in Newsday.
