On January 18, 2022, the Great Neck Historical Society presented a zoom program on the history of the Saddle Rock Grist Mill, one of the few remaining tidal grist mills in the country. It was given to Nassau County in 1955.
Former President of the Great Neck Historical Society, Alice Kasten discussed its colorful history and importance. Howard Kroplick, Co-President of the Roslyn Landmark Society, which is deep into the process of restoring the Roslyn Grist Mill, talked about what it takes to restore a grist mill and will give us practical advice about how to advocate for its restoration effectively.
