This building was constructed in the 1940s as an auto showroom and garage for Bay Pontiac. Designed by New York-based architect Herman Sohn, the building is notable for the materials used in its original construction. When this building was constructed shortly after the end of the Second World War, there was a very limited availability of steel for construction, forcing many new buildings to reuse steel and other materials from older structures. Bay Pontiac was no exception, as noted in the original blueprints for the building. Above image courtesy of Ian Zwerdling.

According to the original blueprints for the building, the glass roof and all of the steel columns, trusses, and braces used to construct it were originally used for the tennis building at J. T. Pratt’s Glen Cove estate and were removed from his estate and then transported to Flower Hill to be used in this building.

Today, the building houses an Arhaus furniture store. This store was the company's first Long Island location when it opened in 2016.
