The Krizek House is one of the most architecturally unique homes in Flower Hill. Built in 1970 on the side of a hill overlooking Hempstead Harbor, the home was designed by Forest Hills-based architect Massimo Francis Yezzi for Edwin and Virginia Krizek.

A fine example of contemporary architecture, the Krizek House stands out from the rest of the homes in Flower Hill’s Roslyn Hill housing development, which was built in the 1950s over the former Anderson/Hearst estate and, with the exception of a few existing dwellings, mainly consists of split-level homes.

One especially unique feature of the Krizek House is a footbridge which connects the driveway with the third floor of the home.

Harbor Hill, Downtown Roslyn, Hempstead Harbor, and the William Cullen Bryant Viaduct are all visible from both the home and from Fernwood Lane at this location, which is known as Hearst’s Overlook due to the views afforded and because of how John Randolph Hearst and his wife, Fanne Wade Hearst, once owned the land in the area.
