Hicks Lumber Company Store
1345 Old Northern Boulevard, Roslyn
Project Files
This two-story, frame building with Colonial Revival style detailing was built as a company store for the Hicks Lumber Company. It has a low-pitched hipped roof and projecting, two-story portico. The first story features original, projecting display windows.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 2, 1986. "Several buildings designed during this period combine high-style Georgian and Federal style details with shingle exteriors derived from Long Island's vernacular traditions. This contrast is especially apparent in the 1920 Hicks Lumber Company building at 1345 Old Northern Boulevard (component 7), which features elaborate" entrances and a Mount Vernon-inspired portico, together with rustic shingle shades".
