In 1865 stonemason Samuel Dugan built this stone bridge over Main Street in Roslyn that allowed the Long Island Railroad to link New York City to Glen Cove, The nearby Roslyn Railroad Station was first built in 1864 and replaced in 1887.
Due to the very narrow opening, the stone bridge was eventually taken down for a new bridge allowing two-way traffic.
