This was the home of David D. Kirby (1820-1901) and his family in the late 1880s. Kirby, the son of Benjamin Kriby (1783-1830) and Sara Kirby (1788-1870) was the postmaster for Roslyn.

As seen in the above photo and the 1873 map of Roslyn, the house was located just south of the adjacent Roslyn Village School.

The house stood in this location until the early 1900s it was taken down for the Remsen-Hewlett Garage.
