This merchant's house was built on land that once belonged to J. Conklin. Conklin was co-owner of one of the prominent local lumber companies Conklin, Tubby and Conklin.
The George T. Conklin House was a 2 1/2 story shingled and gable-roofed dwelling with a hipped front porch. The house was photographed by William Pickering circa 1915.
While being restored, the house was totally destroyed by a fire on April 11, 1986.

Next door to the house I grew up in! Years 1955 to 1978......my parent bought 208 just after WW2 and Mom sold it in 1984.
