While organizing Roslyn Landmark Society's archives, Co-President John Santos discovered a lost file of photos including one of the earliest known images of the village dated 1860. In the above photo, the schooner Martha Amanda can be seen docked behind the Roslyn Grist Mill.
Joseph Hicks' Saw Mill can be seen in the background. It may be the only known photo of the saw mill's water wheel.

A great find, John. It is now possible to continue a project Carol Clarke started to map and describe and picture the heart of Roslyn Village in the 19th Century and earlier. It may help with the approach to downtown business to know the full, early landscape of the business district.
