Construction workers reinstalled the restored timber columns and tie beams last week at the Roslyn Grist Mill. Fourteen of the 15 timber bents (columns + tie beams) have now been reinstalled enabling the structure to be lowered on to its new foundation next month. For the first time since 2020, the Roslyn Grist Mill will be standing on its timber frame rather than steel beams.

Well shiver me Timbers! Just when my hopes were fading, a Great Leap Forward.
Keep the good news coming!
IN this era of instant everything at the touch of a button , it is indeed just so wonderful to see craftsmanship , and skill of handwork still exists . Current and modern ways to accomplish anything and everything often overshadows the skill that has been past down for gener4ations of skilled hand labor . Not everything can be accomplished by looking at an electronic screen that despite a lot of claims does not have all the answers . To restore something to the way it was originally takes deep thought and research. This is true for structures like houses, buildings, grist mills and for things mechanical like boats , airplanes and vehicles ( had to throw that in there as Howard and I both preserve and restore old cars!). My Sincerest Thanks to all the leaders of the Roslyn Landmark Society for their on going efforts and patience to do this for all the future generations to come. It is all of our heritage at its finest hour.
