The Roslyn Landmark Society is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applicants for the 2026 Gardiner Young Scholars Program in partnership with the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation. This opportunity is available to all Long Island historical societies, who nominate student candidates to the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation for consideration.
This past year, 2025/2026, the Roslyn Landmark Society nominated Sydney Spier and Caroline Danbusky, both seniors at Roslyn High School. Sydney spent her time writing articles on the history of Roslyn for the Roslyn News Times as well as social media posts. Caroline spent time digitizing and organizing photo slides for the Roslyn Landmark Society archives.
This exciting opportunity is open to students ages 15–22 who are interested in local history and preservation. Selected scholars will complete 100 hours of service with the Society and receive a $1,700 stipend in recognition of their work. If there are two participants the hours and stipend will be split. Participants will gain hands-on experience supporting the Society’s mission while contributing meaningfully to historic preservation efforts in our community. At the conclusion of the program, each scholar will create a short video presentation reflecting on their project and experience.
Students wishing to be considered for this award nomination and to work with the Roslyn Landmark Society are encouraged to reach out to learn more about this rewarding opportunity to explore and preserve Long Island’s rich history. Application are due June 1, 2026.
