Phase 2 of the restoration of the Roslyn Grist Mill continued over the last two weeks including removal of the "temporary bracing placed by Nassau County in 1994 and 2002, removal of the last timber beam for restoration, preparing concrete walls along the south side of the building and placement of a sill beam for the west side.
Images provided by Don Krug and Howard Kroplick.
The temporary bracing placed by Nassau County in 1994 and 2002 has been removed. The building is now supported primarily by its restored timber frame.
The last timber beam used for the husk frame was removed for restoration.
Concrete was poured to support the installation of the restored bent #15 (column/beam combination that faces Old Northern Boulevard.) This will be the last restored bent to be installed in the building.
A sill beam has been placed on top of the columns on the west side of the building.

This is just so wonderful to read and see photographs of - PRESERVATION at its finest moment and by truly enthusiastic people and a Society that is working so very very hard to preserve our past before it disappears for future generations
As the Historian for the Inc. Village of Floral Park and the founder of the Historical Society here I will share this with all I can.
