The restoration of the Roslyn Grist Mill last week focused on the repair of the historic 1700s timber beams. As seen in the below diagram, the Roslyn Grist Mill timber beams and columns are connected by wood mortese (a cavity cut into the wood) and tenon (projecting formed at the end of a timber) joinery.
This repair work will continue through the Fall followed by the reinstallation of the restored timber frame.
