This past Saturday, October 17 saw gorgeous weather and great conversation centered around some of the most compelling architecture in Roslyn.
Led by Craig Westergard - architect, current trustee, and one-time Roslyn Landmark Society president - a lively group meandered down through the streets of the Village of Roslyn. During the promenade, the group spent time learning about the formation of the Roslyn Landmark Society, exploring notable buildings along the route, and hearing about the philanthropy of its founders Roger and Peggy Gerry, who helped preserve the Village of Roslyn and make it the treasured architectural jewel box that it is today.
The group found themselves admiring countless covenant homes, exploring the interior of the Van Nostrand-Starkins house, and hearing about the history of the Roslyn Grist Mill and the progress made in the preservation efforts by the Roslyn Landmark Society over the years. Additionally, accompanied by the Reverend Dr. Jim Barnum, the group stopped to view the interior of the Roslyn Presbyterian Church.
The afternoon concluded with everyone expressing renewed admiration and gratitude for Roslyn’s enduring beauty and for the devoted neighbors and preservationists who help keep its history alive.
