Thank you to all who attended the first lecture in the Roslyn Landmark Society’s 2025 Speaker Series, "Industry and Archaeology: Long Island's Historic Mills."
We also extend our gratitude to Allison McGovern, anthropological archaeologist and Cultural Resources Manager at Brookhaven National Laboratory, for her fascinating presentation about Long Island's historic mills. McGovern also spoke about her experience as one of two archaeologists who excavated portions of the Roslyn Grist Mill historic site, located on Old Northern Blvd in Roslyn, at the start of the mill's restoration in 2019.
Special thanks also to the Bryant Library and the Bryant Library's Local History Collection for partnering with the Roslyn Landmark Society on this event.
Whether you joined us in person or virtually through Zoom, we hope you enjoyed yourselves and learned as much about archaeology on Long Island as we did.
Be sure to join us again on March 23 for the next lecture, "A Look Back at the Rich Equestrian History of Long Island in the 19th and 20th Centuries,"with Jerry & Rita Trapani.
