Welcome to Montrose (Clovercraft) in the Heart of Roslyn Harbor. Overlooking Hempstead Harbor on 1.4 lush acres sits the stately former home of William Cullen Bryant. Built in the 1800s and lovingly lived-in and maintained by the same family for the last 50 years, this home exudes warmth, history, character and craftsmanship. Three stories offering grand rooms, 7 fireplaces, gorgeous wood floors, and an impressive front porch with winter-water views and serenity. The home features a classic center hall grand staircase, as well as two back stairs leading to 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms upstairs. The third floor with full ceiling height is currently used for storage but can be re-imagined to create a spectacular bonus living space. The sprawling property is both peaceful and private, with in-ground gunite pool, playground and detached four car garage with bonus storage above. An ideal setting to make endless memories. Central Air Conditioning, Generator, Roslyn Schools and Reasonable Taxes. Note, desired updates and renovation are possible, as this is not limited to historic registers.

Hi Harrison, please reach out. I have an art diary by Frances Bryant, we lived next door and we purchased the property there were several houses (Chicken Coop, Carriage House, etc.) Property boarded on the Frick Estate.

Harrison Hunt

I hope that it will be purchased by another family that will cherish the site.

Just for the record, the home was sometimes known as Clovercroft, and was not William Cullen Bryant's home (although he owned it), but the home of his daughter Frances (Fanny) and her husband Parke Godwin and their family.
