The Roslyn Landmark Society's Fall Walking Tour was a resounding success! Participants agreed it was well worth all the walking for the unique perspective it offered on the village’s rich architectural and cultural history.
Led by Craig and Florence Westergard, the tour began at the George Allen Tenant House—Roslyn Landmark Society’s headquarters—before heading down Old Northern Boulevard. Along the way, attendees admired a row of charming 19th-century vernacular houses and the historic cobblestone of Hicks Street.
A highlight of the tour was crossing the Roslyn Viaduct (William Cullen Bryant Bridge), where guests took in sweeping views of the village. The group continued through Roslyn’s revitalized Waterfront Development Overlay District, with time to appreciate the promenade and its surrounding architecture.
The walk concluded with an insightful look at the commercial district, including a stop at the William Robeson Grist Mill—currently undergoing restoration—and an interior visit to the Ellen E. Ward Memorial Clock Tower.
We’re excited to share a highlight video capturing some of the best moments from this incredible tour. Whether you joined us or want to see what you missed, be sure to check it out!
