Over 75 members attended the Roslyn Landmark Society Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Trattoria Diane and online. This was the largest number of members ever to attend a Roslyn Landmark Society Annual Meeting. Thanks to Diane and Mayor John Durkin for sponsoring a wonderful event.
The evening was a celebration of the Society's many accomplishments over the past year, as well as a look ahead to its plans for 2024. Trustee and officer elections were held, renewing the appointments of seven trustees and four officers.
This year's annual meeting was also a special occasion to honor the Robinson family, who built the first grist mill at the Hempstead Harbor location between 1701 and 1709. Special thanks to Professor Tim Bestor, an 11th-generation direct descendant of John Robinson, who gave an insightful presentation on the Robinson family history.
The Roslyn Landmark Society is grateful to its members and donors for their continued dedication and support. With the support of its community, the Society will continue to be a leading force in the preservation of Roslyn's landmarks and legacy.
Watch the evening's recording below with an introduction by Co-President, Howard Kroplick and keynote by Professor Tim Bestor.
