On May 21, 1931, Clarence Mackay was the host at his Harbor Hill Estate for 700 members of the Garden Club of America as part of their five-day convention being held on Long Island. The club were the guests of the North Country Garden Club of Long Island based in Locust Valley.
Each guest received an illustrated brochure of the Clarence M. Mackay Collection prepared by the North Country Garden Club describing Mackay's famous armor collection, paintings and objects d'art. That evening Clarence Mackay personally conducted a tour of his galleries in his country home.
Below are two pdfs of the 1931 North Country Garden Club brochure (missing a few pages). The brochure is courtesy of Margaret Grosser, whose father was a caretaker of the Harbor Hill Estate.
