Henry W. Johanson also designed several homes within Flower Hill, as well as Flower Hill Village Hall. Not only that but he also served as our Building Inspector for several years!
Wonderful series of photographs of houses with dates---I walk this side of East Broadway very frequently going to the Bryant Library. I have often thought about some of these houses--it is good to know about them.
Hi Bob, thanks for the comment—so sorry I'm just seeing it now. These two paintings were actually executed in grey toned watercolors, rather than in full color. Rather impressive, when you think about the detail Lange achieved using just light/dark contrasts to lay out the landscape.
It takes many concerned but enthusiastic hands to preserve our heritage, and this example shines and reflects that. Many will enjoy the sign and other accomplishments at preservation of the Roslyn Landmark Society but few will comment to that affect. As the Village Historian for the The Inc. Village of Floral Park, as well as the founder of the Floral Park Historical Society decades ago, we all find the time to do things if we feel that the deed will preserve what we had then and now for future generations . It is what the community of preservationists do, our admiration of history and the place we live will always be on going and never falter. I must add that both Howard Kroplick and I were born in the same year, collect, restore and use pre WWII era motor cars as well. My question is - was there something in the water the year we were born that makes us both so passionate about the history and preservation we love?
Jason, our construction manager informed me today that anchor rods and tie-down strapping will be constructed after the timber frame is re-installed and the structure lowered to the the new foundation.

Looks great but I am curious that there are no anchor rods or tie-down strapping. How is that being handled?
