I believe this property was owned by the Valentine family. My grandfather George Speedling (born 1884) was the son of Alice Valentine. So I think the Speedling mentioned here is likely one of his siblings.

For several years in the early 2000s I served as a docent for this house. That was the time when we were open for tours every weekend I lived in Roslyn at the time. For many years, the little history that I wrote from research I did on the house was used at the walking tours. It is a house with a fascinating history, and I’m thrilled to hear that it will continue to educate visitors for a long time

The colorful lion head swags with bunches of fruits and leaves that flank the house's main entrance were made by the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works in Doylestown, PA, in 1916. The Library fireplace was also made by the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works at the same time.
